Professional Background
Tamara is a Performance Psychologist who has over 15 years of experience within the healthcare industry, which includes Biomedical Science, specialising in Physiology, teaching Pre-Medical students, working within Allied Health industries, and being a Psychologist. She has worked in various areas, including Sporting Teams (Organisations), Education Institutions, Private Practice and Clinical Organisations.
Tamara has worked with many sports and sporting organisations in addition to working in Private Practice, including The AFL Players Association (AFLPA), Werribee Football Club (VFL), The Adam Saad AFL Academy, Deakin University, Private School Rowing Teams, Basketball (NBL1) Team, Martial Arts, Gymnastics, The Australian Ballet School, Performing Arts and lots more.
Sporting Background
Tamara has a background in competitive gymnastics, which has given her an insight into the demands and pressures of a competitive sport. Many athletes face performance anxiety, self-doubt, fear of failure, perfectionism, body image dissatisfaction, performance pressures, motivation, injury management, team dynamics, and relationship management.
Tamara is passionate about helping people achieve their potential and working with young elite athletes to create foundations to build on while they navigate their world.
Tamara’s special interests include Wellbeing, Performance, Body Image, Anxiety, Stress Reduction, Self-Confidence, Resilience and Health Behaviour Change. She also enjoys working within multi-disciplinary organisations and collaborating with clients to manage Anxiety and Stress, Improve Performance and Injury Prevention.
Evidence-Based Therapeutic Modalities
In treatment, my approach is drawn from a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness based techniques, Positive Psychology principles, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
